TALLITH VE TEFFILIN
One of the first Mitzvoth to begin with is to wrap yourself in a Tallith and bind Teffilin. To learn it according to the laws and maybe according to your hashkafa, you have to contact your local Rabbi. If this is not possible or you feel ashamed to do so, watch here these two short movies from Chabad. If you can't read Ivrith / Hebrew, you can buy yourself a Siddur. Best are those from the Seif Edition. They are transliterated, but only in ashkenaz available. These are two Siddurim from the Artscroll series. One for weekday and one for shabbos. It is very recommended to buy them both. It is also recommended to pray in lashon ha-kodesh in the holy tongue. Please don't forget: At least pray each day in your own language to HaShem. Every word your speak to HIM, wether in Hebrew or in Afrikaans, is a Mitzva. HaShem will push you to elevate your soul in this life. You just have to begin.
Before you begin, you maybe need some information why to put on the Tallith. When you see the Tallith, you will realize that it has some strings on each corner. These wear the name Tzitzith. The numerical value of Tzitzith is 600. If you take one of them in your hands, you see 8 strings and 5 knots. Count them together and you will get the number 613. Exactly the number of all the Mitzvoth together. The Tallith is a reminder to those Mitzvoth.
